The French National Research Agency (ANR) aims to provide funding for project-based research in France. To this end, ANR has designs and deploys a range of funding instruments to satisfy both the project-based funding needs of the research communities and the public policy for research and innovation in France.
Every year the ANR publishes a work program, which describes the actions and calls for proposals that it will offer to the research communities. The work program comprises four interlinked components, each with a specific budget. Each component offers dedicated funding instruments. Each funding instrument has a clearly identified purpose, specific expected outcomes and distinct features in terms of selection and monitoring.
The ANR and the Investments for the Future Program
L’ANR was appointed as the State's operator for the Investments for the Future program. It is in charge of the selection process, preparing the grant agreements, funding, monitoring, evaluating and analyzing the impacts of the program's activities and projects on this field of activity.
