Men and women differ, not just biologically but also in their social and cultural representations and lifestyles. So, it is not surprising that when ill health strikes, it does not necessarily express itself in the same way between the sexes - something which must be taken into account in order to treat everyone. An obvious fact which is slow to resonate with certain researchers and physicians.
