Director of the theme-based institute: Franck Lethimonnier
Deputy director: Inês Amado, Corinne Sebastiani
The Health Technologies institute (TS) coordinates the technology research that is playing a crucial role in biomedical progress at both a fundamental and clinical level. It works in a cross-disciplinary manner, downstream from researchers and engineers (in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, IT, electronics, and nanotechnology), and upstream from doctors and industry. Its scope of activity includes: imaging, technologies associated with drug development, biotechnology and bioengineering, surgery and other interventional techniques, and digital health technologies.

Missions
Each of Inserm’s theme-based institutes is led by a director, who is appointed by the Inserm CEO, and supported by experts who span the scientific fields concerned. The key goals of these institutes are:
- to take stock of the current state of affairs in their research field, and promote French biomedical research within it
- to lead the scientific community, coordinate its expansion, and put forward major objectives
- to ensure high-level support for fundamental, translational, and clinical research in each field
- to support the creation of public-private partnerships and value-creation in research
