Research partnerships
Partnerships between Inserm and certain major institutions - universities, Grandes Ecoles, Public Scientific and Technical Research Establishments (EPSTs), university hospitals and other research institutions - are manifested in particular by the creation of joint research units as part of a strategy to achieve common scientific objectives. Inserm is also developing a policy for partnerships with institutions, the health authorities, public and private decision-makers.
Inserm has about 360 research structures (research units, clinical investigation centers, service units) spread out across France. Almost all of these structures are joint units : Inserm is the supervisory establishment alongside at least one higher education and research institution. On each site, there is ongoing dialog between Inserm and its partners. It provides for:
- the development of a common scientific strategy, taking advantage of site-specific opportunities and relying on Inserm's strengths as a national organization; and
- day-to-day support for research units favoring joint construction with partners and the pooling of resources, which guarantees project consistency at national level.
